This week's Hawaiian words are:

Makai -  on the seaside, toward the sea, in the direction of the sea

Mauka - inland, upland, towards the mountain

Makai and Mauka are used frequently when giving directions to certain locations. 

Example: The house is located on the mauka side of the road.
