If a proposed bill is passed, the deadline to obtain a building permit for an additional dwelling unit (ADU) in AG or Open zoned lots on Kauai would be extended for 5 years.   Currently, if a building permit is not processed by December 15, 2009, the owner of such land would lose the ability to build an ADU.
