One of the readers of my most recent newsletter inquired about the $13,000,000 house sale that occurred in January on Kauai.  I thought there might be more of you out there that would like to know exactly what type of property commanded that kind of price in today's current economic climate, thus this post today.

The property went into escrow in 2008 after being officially on the market for 49 days.  The asking price was $15,000,000 and the cash sale of $13,000,000 recorded on January 2, 2009. The property of 55.43 acres is located within a 1,500 acre gated preserve in the town of Kilauea on Kauai's north shore.   There is a 4 bed/4.5 bath, 5,743 square foot "Japanese country home" built in 2002.  Here is how the property was described by the listing agent:
