Latest on the Homeowners Tax Credit

The current $8,000 tax credit for first time home buyers is scheduled to expire on November 30, 2009.   Senate Democrats would like to extend the credit until April 30, 2010 and expand the credit to include higher income earners and Americans who already own homes.  The new plan would include a $6,500 credit to home buyers who have lived in their prior residence for at minimum of five years.   Income restrictions would be increased from $75,000 to $125,000 for individuals and from $150,000 to $225,000 for couples.
